We are now nearly two thirds of the way into 2025 and I am starting to see a shift in my mindset...

Sailing on the Nile
Sailing on the Nile

For some unknown reason, I always see August as being half way through the year when in actual fact we have sailed past the half-way mark! I'm not sure why this is but it is now - at this point - that I begin seeing it as a countdown towards the end of the year and I suddenly feel a surge of momentum to 'get going' on my yearly goals...

However (strangely) this surge hasn't be born from a place of pressure or panic but refreshingly, it has come from a place of optimism. There has been a positive shift in my mindset: a boost of renewed energy and drive if you like! And after many months of feeling stagnant and tired- like there's a blocker on my energy- this feels wonderful!

This shift has only begun to take place this week and yes, it could be fleeting but I am determined to make use of this 'new wind in my sails'. I think part of this change has been due to the action of 'bringing it back to basics': nutritious foods; no alcohol; working towards my goals; and finally, striving for 'progress over perfection'.

As a result of this, I am keen to keep riding this wave and I'll learn to adjust my sails accordingly...

So as usual, I begin by asking myself the usual questions:

What is going well in my life?

What areas that could do with some readjustments?

My word of the year: progress! My word of the year was 'energy' but now I am changing it to 'progress'. Having the word 'energy' has almost brought more pressure to have energy and in a busy life when your battery feels low, it begins to feel like you've failed... The word 'progress' is a simple reminder that any step in the direction of my goals is an achievement.

Theme of the month: trial and error/progress over perfection.

Priorities for this month: performing at the Fringe Festival; self-publishing my poetry and photography collection; and following a nutritious diet.

Main priority of the month: writing and acting!

Self-development goal: to practise being out of my comfort zone and embrace the unknown outcomes of this challenge.

Intention of the month: to listen to the needs of my mind and body and protect/nourish it accordingly.

Daily habits to incorporate: drinking more herbal teas and water instead of coffee; eating my five portions of fruit and veg per day; breathing and mindfulness; time to work towards writing goals; and finally, exercise/movement sessions throughout the week to boost energy levels and mood.
