If you're looking for picturesque, other-worldly and charming, Visby might be your next travel destination!
Located on the idyllic Swedish Island of Gotland, Visby is an unspoilt gem that must be experienced. The town dates back to the 12th century and as you begin to explore, wandering along its cobblestone streets, you will begin to feel as though you are also being transported back in time. Its well-preserved medieval walls encompasses a wonderful web of little streets that lead to its collection of beautiful cathedrals and churches along with a traditional town square. Also within this walled town (which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site) are many tempting cafes and restaurants: all providing a stunning scenic backdrop as you enjoy your ice coffee or glass of wine!
Top sights to see!

S:ta Karins church ruins: impressive and well-preserved, located on the main square.
St. Mary's Cathedral: its impressive spires dominate the town's skyline.
The Botanical Gardens: peaceful and pretty, this garden provides the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in some greenery.

My experience:
I absolutely fell in love with Visby. My time there coincided with Medieval Week (a festival that runs for eight days from August 4th-11th) so I was fortunate to be able to enjoy some of the festivities taking place and really soak up the jovial atmosphere. From medieval music and dancing to tents providing traditional Nordic tattoos, there was something for everyone! And the residents of the island looked wonderful in their traditional Gotland attire. It was a real treat to be a part of it and I was most definitely under-dressed by comparison! My highlight was being sung a traditional Swedish song, by three sellers, after tipping for my beverage- a wonderful moment!
