Writing, rehearsals and reflection!

Thank you for tuning in to read my fourth instalment about all things Scotland and settling in! It's about two months since chapter three so I have plenty to fill you in on...
The last couple of months have been full of rehearsals, writing, reflection, learning, growing and much much more! Although there have been a few ups and downs along the way, I am now starting to feel excited and positive about the future here.
I now have much more clarity on my priorities and goals thus feel I have a sense of direction: which always feel reassuring!
Read on to hear all about my highlights and top tips for relocating...

My Highlights So Far:
visiting family in England for a lovely weekend of afternoon tea, canal boats and aperol spritz's (see pictures below);
rehearsing for the Fringe Festival show and starting the performances;
rehearsals for another show happening in October and getting to do stage combat;
finishing my poetry and photography collection (due to be published in a couple of weeks);
completing a Pretty Muddy Race for charity;
and finally, having a leisurely Sunday in Culross.
Top Tips and Lessons Learnt for Relocating:
Preparation is the key to success! In the last two months I have really seen the importance of preparation... Whether that be doing a food shop each week and sorting my lunches the night before (so that I have healthy meals and snacks to keep me going) or learning my lines for shows really far in advance (so that I feel confident!)... Preparation really is key!
Find your tribe! Find those that make you feel good about yourself! It could be those that you just naturally 'click' with or those that share the same hobbies and passions; finding these people has really helped me to settle in much quicker!
Don't be hard on yourself! When things go wrong or we experience disappointments and setbacks, it can be so easy to berate ourselves with statements like "I should have known better" or "how could I be so stupid?"... This language is never helpful and we should try to show ourselves the same compassion as we would a close friend.
Experience is all part of your journey! This follows on from the previous point: we are all here to experience and learn. We are so complex with a range of thoughts, emotions, worries, insecurities, doubts, confusion and so on... we can't have everything figured out all the time!
Nothing stays the same! Ups and downs are natural. So when you're experiencing a low moment or time in your life, take comfort in the idea that nothing stays the same and everything soon passes, even the tough times!
This is a snapshot of my experience so far and I will be posting a monthly blog: updating you on my adventures in Scotland along with my highlights and lessons learnt!

Thank you for reading my blog

Stay tuned for 'Scotland: Chapter 5'!
