Mocktails, magic and merriment!

A view from Carlton Hill in Edinburgh

The months of January and February have been busy! Between work, rehearsals, writing, socialising, catching the dreaded winter bugs and everything else, it's been tricky to find time for a wee Scotland update. However, this should hopefully summarise the highs and lows of the last couple of months- I have now added an extra section of the 'lowlights' to accompany my 'lessons learnt'! Enjoy!

My Highlights:

  • attending a mystical mocktail making course (see pictures below);

  • lots of cinema trips (The Housemaid and Wuthering Heights viewed);

  • visiting the National Gallery in Edinburgh (pictured above);

  • starring in the SCDA's One Act Festival;

  • and finally, lunch dates and coffee dates with friends (see delicious pancakes to the left).

My Lowlights:

  • picking up a winter virus that has wreaked havoc with my energy levels along with both my physical and mental health;

  • struggling with motivation and self-care due to the long winter months;

  • and finally, having moments of anxiety with worrying about the future.

Lessons Learnt:

  1. Physical and mental health go 'hand-in-hand'.

  2. Slowing down is essential- slow and steady wins the race.

  3. Perfection doesn't support- all it does is negatively affect confidence.

  4. Create moments to be 'in flow'.

  5. Don't listen to your inner critic- it tells lies!

This is a snapshot of my experience so far and I will be posting a monthly blog: updating you on my adventures in Scotland along with my highlights and lessons learnt!
