High and lows and everything in between!

A beautiful Edinburgh sunset!
A beautiful Edinburgh sunset!

My Highlights:

  • my mum visiting for my birthday;

  • open water swimming at Jupiter Artland (see pictures below);

  • visiting North Berwick;

  • going to the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh;

  • seeing Susan Calman's Tall Tales show in Stirling with friends;

  • and finally, watching a Hearts match at Tynecastle Park.

Read on to find out all about my highlights and lowlights over the past month!

My Lowlights:

  • all or nothing thinking thus leading to "feeling like a failure in all areas of my life";

  • discounting the positives and only focusing on the negatives or the things that are going wrong (i.e. diminishing the success of completing a run at the fringe festival and instead panicking about not being where I "should" be at the age of thirty-seven);

  • and finally, navigating the change in seasons and changes in mood.

Lessons Learnt:

  1. Don't keep pushing yourself when you need a break.

  2. Honest communication is key and it's okay to ask for you what you want or need (regardless of how you've been conditioned to think).

  3. Some people will understand more than you think.

  4. Mental health challenges affect people in different ways.

  5. Facing your problems is hard but it's the first step to solution.

Edinburgh
